Father Almighty

On the topic of a film that portrays a man getting revenge on the murder who brutally raped his sister. I submitted for the role of the girl who is raped, and now I regret it. Why perpetuate violence with an image we have all seen in situations which glorify the violence. Documentary filmmaking has its place for violent imagery, but in narrative film we must be even more careful on how we use images of violence. Less is more, and clever editing can create a message that hits the core questions; why are women being raped, how can it be prevented? What is an example of a potent message with minimal perpetration of violent imagery?

“Father of all Mankind” reads above a picture of Jesus-like God in a white robe holding the earth and surrounded by angles.

Mother, if God is neither male nor female, how come God is always depicted as a man? How only men have powerful decision-making roles in the church?

Oh, they don’t need those roles. Mary is the holy role model for women.

But Mother, Mary was only used for her body. And her body would be considered sinful and dirty if she had not given birth immaculately! Why is Mary’s head almost always lowered in every painting I’ve seen of her? She looks meek and drained of passion or distant and melancholy. Baby Jesus is the one with the life; his eyes make him look like he has the wisdom of an ancient man.

That’s because Mary’s only purpose was to create Jesus, so he could redeem “original sin” and then ascend in to heaven to be with the Father Almighty.

Why does the church teach that woman was created from Adam’s rib? A woman has the sense to know that’s pure bullshit. Who wrote that? Certainly not a woman.
Woman gives birth to man. The word “Woman” includes all of humanity, because women are all-inclusive. Mother, I think that picture of a man called god, should be replaced with a woman called god.

Oh, images don’t have any effect on us. Everybody knows that god is neither male nor female.

If it makes no difference, why don’t we try replacing the picture of a man with a woman? This woman can be nude, so all can see the vagina which gives life, and the breasts which nourish and sustain. She can be covered vines and her hair can be loose and free. Her expression can be one of pure ecstasy, because she is aware of her power to lead her children towards peace.

And I forgot to mention her menstrual blood. Without this blood, we could not be born. This is life-giving blood. Why Jesus’ blood is considered holy and redeeming, while Mary’s bloody, the blood of Woman is never mentioned? The blood of Jesus was produced with violence; the blood of woman is produced miraculously.

To top off this new image of God, she should have menstrual blood gently flowing from between her legs. And surrounding her is all spirits of the earth, and all humanity.

If God is both male and female, why don’t we depict God as a woman, just to see what happens?
